A Color Story

Cierra Britton Gallery is pleased to announce our fall presentation, A Color Story, featuring the work of Lindsay Adams, Nola Ayoola, Quinci Baker, Kwamé Gomez, Lewinale Havette, and Lex Marie.

A Color Story is an exhibition exploring color theory in relation to narrative and symbolism. This show features artists who employ color-dominant and monochromatic palettes as an intentional method throughout their work across a range of styles including abstraction, figuration, textiles, and flora. This presentation unearths the ways that color can hold and shape narratives that resonate in specific ways depending on the viewer.

Color has a tendency to evoke a range of emotional and sensational experiences, based on the individual, whether conjuring memories and affecting our subconscious, or reminding us of feelings, places, and people. The works in A Color Story reflect on how different color associations have informed our personal and communal stories, from love stories to looking at the public school-to-prison pipeline.
